Many are aware that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but they are not aware that it is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Founder of Angel of God Outreach, Leticia Morton quotes, “Domestic violence is a growing epidemic in Georgia. We rank #6 in the nation for adult domestic violence and #1 for teen domestic violence. Abusers thrive on our silence, so join us in speaking out and putting a stop to domestic violence.”
Angel of God Outreach is a nonprofit community organization that empowers, inspires, and edifies survivors of domestic violence, rape, molestation, mental and emotional abuse. Their mission is to educate women who have experienced these heinous acts of violence by providing them needed resources to better their lives. Our goal is to open a transition home to help those in dangerous situations restart their lives and become independent and productive citizens of society.
“Please join us as we break the silence and bring awareness to domestic violence. We will stop the pain by breaking the chain!” shares Morton. The event will be held at the Decatur Library 215 Sycamore Street Decatur, on October 12, 2013 at 10 am. For more information, contact Leticia Morton at (678) 964-5536 or (678) 750-3233.
