Rockdale County Public Schools (RCPS) school nutrition was recognized with multiple state awards at the 2017 RCPS School Nutrition Spring Banquet on April 25.
Poilette Colbourne of Edwards Middle School was named the Georgia School Nutrition Association (GSNA) Employee of the Year (pictured with RCPS School Nutrition Exec. Dir. Peggy Lawrence). Davis Middle School (DMS) student Emma Arnold won the state GSNA art contest for her poster depicting her grandmother, Ms. Mae Arnold, who works in DMS school nutrition (Emma and Ms. Mae are pictured with DMS art teacher Katy King). Teresa Longo of Memorial Middle School (pictured with RCPS School Nutrition Exec. Dir. Peggy Lawrence) won the GSNA Culinary Arts Contest Breakfast Entry. Rockdale County School Nutrition Association (RCSNA) was awarded the Gold Scroll and ALIRT Award and also installed its new officers for 2017-18. Rockdale Career Academy won the Lawrence Cup for having the best tabletop decoration reflecting the banquet’s theme, “Strong Roots, Strong Future.”
RCPS also bid farewell to school nutrition retirees Mary Whiten, Mary Knight, Jane Stapp, Debra Petty, Linda Mansfield, Deborah Johnson, Joy Partain, Debbie Merck, Peggy Crumbley, and Rosealie Inverso.
