Festivities to Include Morning Ceremonies and Evening Concert
In observance of Veterans Day, the Walk of Heroes Veterans War Memorial presents their Annual Veteran’s Day event, which is free and open to the public. This event will be held in honor of all veterans who have served in any military campaign or branch in honor of our nation’s freedom, and encourages the participation of their family members, both young and old, as well as anyone wishing to show their appreciation. The celebration will take place at the Walk of Heroes Veterans War Memorial, located at 2825 Black Shoals Rd. NE, Conyers, GA 30012, which is within Black Shoals Park on the shore of Lake Randy Poynter. This annual event pays tribute to those who have given dedicated service to our country, and the community is invited to join in honoring these distinguished men and women.
The day’s events will open with a ribbon cutting ceremony dedicating the pavilion at 10:30 AM, followed by a speaker to officially kick off the program. The Boy Scouts of America will hold a flag retirement ceremony at 12:15 PM. Visitors are welcome to explore and experience for themselves the one of a kind memorial that is still under construction.
To close out the commemoration that evening, there will be “A Tribute to Elvis” fundraising concert for the continued development of the Veterans War Memorial at the Social Circle Theater from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Admission is $20.00 per person and $15.00 for all military personnel. To purchase tickets, please call the Social Circle Theater at 770-385-3323, or visit the Fundraiser Concert for the Walk of Heroes event on Facebook to scan the QR code and order directly through Doug Jones, who will be one of two Elvis impersonators entertaining at the concert.
The Walk of Heroes Veterans War Memorial was developed around a ‘visual and interactive’ concept to cultivate a public understanding of the sacrifices made by veterans on the battlefields during and since the 20th century, and by their families whose sacrifices helped to protect and maintain the freedom enjoyed by Americans today.
