Over 1,400 Residents Attend a Regional Job Fair sponsored by Congressman Jody Hice
Over 1,400 East Metro Atlanta residents gathered at Georgia Piedmont Technical College for the 2017 Regional Job Fair sponsored by U.S. Congressman Jody Hice (GA-10) and the Newton County Office of Economic Development. Prospective candidates were able to connect with potential employers, interviews were held, and immediate hiring was observed throughout the day.
“We think it was a huge success. It outpaced anything we could have thought possible and we appreciate [Congressman Hice] for bringing this opportunity to Newton County,” said Ralph Staffins, Newton County Chamber President.
Congressman Jody Hice commented, “I am impressed with how the community pulled together for this event.” With over 58 businesses represented to showcase local employment opportunities, there was no shortage of options for the various fields of talent and capability that were present. The collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce, the Office of Economic Development, the Board of Education, the local workforce, and businesses in the region helped to create a successful connection between applicants and business organizations.
“The success of the job fair was 100 percent due to the citizens and business community that attended today’s event. The people who attended today were prepared, professional and focused on success! Our region has a strong business base and due to their commitment to our area the event stood out above any other. We couldn’t be more thankful for each vendor and their contribution to our region – not just today but every day. We are proud to showcase wonderful talent and incredible businesses and we will continue to build a better, stronger Newton County through our partnerships,” remarked Serra P. Hall, Senior Project Manager, Newton/Covington Economic Development.
